VIAMÃO RENEWS FLEET WITH 28 NEW NEOBUS BUSES

They are vehicles of the New MEGA and SPECTRUM 325 models for urban and metropolitan transportation in the city of Viamão.

The Empresa de Tansporte Público Viamão (Viamão Public Transport Company) a public transport operator in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, which operates lines between the city of Viamão and the state capital, has purchased 28 new NEOBUS vehicles following the renewal schedule of its fleet. On this occasion, 23 New MEGA and 5 SPECTRUM road bus units were purchased. The vehicles should start operating in October this year.

“This purchase is very important because it demonstrates the operator's satisfaction with NEOBUS products and its focus on the continuous renewal of its fleet. Between 2017 and 2019, 83 units were acquired, providing more comfort and convenience to its customers”, says Douglas Cristiano Pessoa, sales supervisor of the brand.

The 23 New MEGA buses stand out for their eye-catching, modern design, extreme robustness, more interior passenger space and operator savings. The model supplied to Empresa Viamão has a total length of 13,345 mm and was built on MBB Euro 5 chassis with City-type upholstered seats, special insulation for unpaved roads and ecoflex-coated aluminum flooring.

The five SPECTRUM 325s also feature MBB chassis, a total length of 13,500 mm and seating capacity for 51 passengers. They feature soft reclining seats, DPM lift (mobile seat device) for full accessibility, air conditioning and LED lighting with indirect lights for convenience and sophistication. For the operators, the vehicle offers the advantages of ease of operation and functionality.

The SPECTRUM 325 has a remarkable look due to the clean and fluid design of the front optics, using LEDs on the beehive headlamps and front grille. At the rear, it has separate bumper and cover for easy repairs, reducing maintenance costs, and rear window with straight and clean design.

The operator understands that keeping up with the renewal schedule is the best way to stay competitive. “Following the strong impact of the demand decrease that started in 2014, we underwent a strong restructuring process in order to reduce costs without losing quality for our customers. Keeping the fleet renewal schedule is among our main goals. Primarily, the replacement is done with vehicles capable of offering the comfort and safety expected by people using public transport, while at the same time enabling lower operating costs as we are always looking for ways to keep reasonable fees.” Reports Leonel David Bortoncello, Director of the Viamão Public Transportation Company.

The new buses will partly serve the metropolitan public transport system and the municipal system of the city of Viamão. At the municipal level, the fleet will receive 5 brand new vehicles, totaling 48 operating urban buses. The remaining 23 buses will be delivered to the system managed by Metroplan, which interconnects the municipalities of Viamão and Porto Alegre.
