Neobus, in partnership with Volvo, developed a new version of the articulated MEGA BRT bus with 22 m total length, the largest bus ever produced. The first unit of the vehicle will be tested in the BRT transportation system of Rio de Janeiro.
According to Edson Tomielo, director of Neobus, the close relationship with Volvo allowed the manufacturing of the new model. “This bus will undergo several field tests because it is very important for the development of a new product to evaluate both the performance and the chassis and the body, as well as its daily use by the operator,” explains the executive.
With distinctive external design, the MEGA BRT has a larger window area and a large passenger saloon, featuring more interior space both in height and width. The bus has the new Volvo B 340M Euro 5 chassis and capacity to carry 44 seated and 165 standing passengers.
The vehicle has Spheros CC670T air conditioning system , 860 mm wide Urbana Injected seats with high headrest, box for wheelchair users and 15 seats for the elderly, pregnant women or people with reduced mobility or disability.
Internally, the MEGA BRT has an audio-visual system with MP3-CD radio with USB port and two 21.5-inch LCD monitors. To increase safety, the driver has a monitoring system with nine cameras, reverse siren, parking sensor, multiplex system and fog lights.
