GRUPO REDENTOR HAS MADE A RECORD PURCHASE OF 120 NEOBUS NEW MEGA BUSES TO THE CITY OF RIO DE JANEIRO

Vehicles will be used in the new SMTR system of the state capital

 

Grupo Redentor, one of Rio de Janeiro's leading urban transport operators, has purchased 120 new NEOBUS New Mega buses. These vehicles are the first of the brand to operate in Rio de Janeiro's new Transport Mobility System - SMTR, and they are being incorporated into the fleets of Viação Redentor, Transporte Barra and Transporte Futuro.

 

“This is NEOBUS's biggest sale this year and one of the most significant in the urban segment,” said Douglas Cristiano Pessoa, sales supervisor. “The Grupo Redentor has a fleet of over 1,300 vehicles composed by 90% of Neobus buses, which proves the advantages and unique characteristics of the brand such as efficiency, robustness and lower maintenance and operating costs,” he emphasizes.

 

The 120 New Mega vehicles developed for Grupo Redentor have Mercedes OF 1721 chassis and they are 12,545mm long with carrying capacity of 41 passengers in injected City-type seats with headrests. These are the first units equipped with the new Daytime Running Light (DRL) integrated in the headlight assembly. They feature a Valeo 355 ceiling air-conditioning system, cassette lift for wheelchair on the right door between axles, rear door opening warning system (for increased customer safety and driver’s control of fare evasion), internal monitoring system, ready to receive four recording cameras, USB system for passengers.

 

The Grupo Redentor, which includes the companies Transporte Barra, Transporte Futuro e Viação Redentor, was founded in June 1950 and is one of the main public transport operators in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
